Aah Wimbledon, synonymous with British summertime, strawberries, world-class tennis and, what's this, fashion?
Yes, every year the kings and queens of the court like to surprise us with an eye-catching outfit or two.
Already this year Serena Williams has graced the grass in a fashionably chic French mac, while Roger Federer showed off an old-school cricket jumper and white trouser combo.
We take a look at this year's outfits - and some of the more outrageous numbers that have been worn on court in years gone by.
Serena Williams is well known for her flamboyant dress sense both on and off the tennis court. Here's the outfit that everyone's been talking about so far this season - a sassy Mac indeed. Maybe Serena was expecting a typical downpour
He's the man! Federer gives the crowds a high five as he arrives on court at Wimbledon. Just seconds earlier he was wearing his trademark white jacket too, but he whipped it off before we managed to snap him
Cheeky girl: Amanda Holden tries her own game at tennis. Not being a world class pro of course, she can afford to have a little more fun with it.
Serbia's Anna Ivanovic shows off some curvy detailing on her miniscule skirt while in action against Paraguay's Rossana De Los Rios.
Game, set and match: World number two player Rafael Nadal feels the heat after a practice session. So why not make the most of the sunshine and whip off the T-shirt?
After taking off that mac, Serena showed off her skills in some frills which were rather tame by her standards. We see those huge earrings are still present though.
Maria Sharipova is planning to play this year's Wimbledon in a dashing new outfit created by Nike, featuring shorts and a sleeveless pleated top. Here she is arriving for a training session in rather more casual get-up.
Leyton Hewitt made sure he wore his trademark baseball cap for his game.
And Mathilde Johansson (who was born in Sweded but competes for France) keeps it light and airy in a Lacoste vest and skirt.
Wimbledon wouldn't be Wimbledon without the hoards of fans of course and here's a gang of them getting right into the spirit.
Meanwhile, while we await more fashion surprises from the courts of 2008's championships, we look back at some of the outrageous outfits on show at the tennis championships of yesteryear.
Only one thought crosses our minds when we look at this: what was she thinking? Serena Williams pairs a button-up dress with tennis...boots. This on-court disaster is complete with a sweat-band adorned with rhinestones.
Venus Williams gets ready to serve in this lilac embellished number. We hope she's not weighed down by that necklace!
Maria Sharapova keeps it cool in a sheer, mesh top. Just one thing though, doesn't the racerback bit belong in the back?
Anna Kournikova saves herself from a potential on-the-court disaster by wearing a belt to keep her shorts up.
Serena Williams takes advantage of a break during this match to straighten the pleats of her skirt.
Maria Sharapova celebrates in a pleated and patterned skirt. Is it just us or does she match the court?
Serena Williams wore these 13-carat diamond earrings worth $40,000 in a match at the U.S. Open. We can't imagine we'd be able to concentrate on the game with $40,000 hanging from our ears!
Venus trudges home with her tennis gear and a trendy gold bag after a long day in the office
When Roger got dressed in the morning, he must have thought he was watching the match, not playing in it!
The Russian tennis star keeps her shoulders covered with a shrunken jacket.
You can always count on Venus Williams to bring her bling to the court. Just look at those monstrous earrings and that enormous ring!
Maria made a fashion statement on the court when she paired leggings with a shimmery skirt.
Serena keeps it simple by her standards in a pair of oversized hoop earrings.
That is one face never meant to be made in a tulle dress. Maybe Maria should save this number for off the court.
French export Tatiana Golovin does a good job of keeping her eye on the ball in this sequined outfit. Our eyes are drawn to her collection of necklaces bouncing around!
Tennis champ Maria Sharapova goes for the ballerina look in this tennis dress, complete with a pink tutu. Give us a twirl!
