[Fun_4_Amdavadi_Gujarati] The Largest Lord Vishnu Temple in the World

Angkor Wat is the largest Lord Vishnu temple in the world. It is located in Cambodia. The temple is part of the world heritage foundation. Cambodia's first civilization originated from India and during the 1st and 15th century, the Vedic culture flourished. The temple was designed as a royal temple for King Suryavarman II in the 12th century. The temple was originally called Vrah Vishnulok. During the 14th and 15th century, the Theraveda Buddhist began using the temple; as it is still to this day. The 16th century onward did see some deterioration in the temple's upkeep, but there was immense restoration in the 20th century. Its name was also changed to Preah Pisnulok to pay respect to the deceased King Suryavarman II. The present name of Angkor Wat originates from the 16th century. Although an impure translation of the Sanskrit language; Angkor means nagar or town and Wat is the Khmer word for temple. The Angkor Wat temple is depicted on the Cambodian flag.
