"We are happy to announce this," RGIA, CEO, P Sripathy said in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
"Under the terms of the concession agreement with the government, GMR-operated RGIA was mandated to achieve a minimum rating of 3.5 on a 5 point scale within three years of operation," Sripathy added.
ACI or Airports Council International is the association of the world's airports. It works in close quarters with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), pursuing the airport interests across the globe. Also, ACI along with ICAO decides on the international standards for air transport.
In the annual ASQ survey is based on regular monthly questionnaires filled in by the travellers passing through over 100 leading world airports in around 45 countries. A total of 118 airports were involved in the 2009 survey, Reuters said. Also, according to ACI, ASQ is considered to be a reliable monitor of airport service and is used by many airports as one of the key performance indicators.

World's best
Seoul's Incheon topped passenger service category for the fifth year in a row. ACI Director General Angela Gittens said, "I congratulate Incheon for its singular performance, having garnered the top spot for five years running. This record is no accident, nor for the others who year after year continue to receive top honours."
Also, second and third position holders are not new to the honour. Singapore's Changi, ranked second and Hong Kong International Airport ranked third, are there to stay for the second year in a row.
However, the two newcomers - Beijing and India's Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International - edged out Nagoya-Central Japan International and Canada's Halifax, Nova Scotia to take up the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
'All hail from ACI's Asia-Pacific Region, a reflection of the region's strong customer service culture, airport management commitment to service delivery and the high quality of modern passenger facilities at each of these airports,' said Gittins in a statement.
The official award ceremony will take place on 13 May 2010 at the ACI Asia Pacific Region's Annual Conference in Sanya, Hainan, China.
