Many years back, in name of cleaning city, Municipality removed many families
living on roadside huts and dumped them on an open land, now called Radiyati Vasti.
These slum dwellers are both Hindus and Muslims living side by side. Their children
go to school on paper only. Teachers show them as ghost students and enjoy high
salaries without laboring. Gujarat boasts about progress but it is only for rich.
Please view pictures of distribution of clothing, shoes, schoolbags, etc.
among 150 boys and girls, both Hindus and Muslims, living on this slum
on 15th August 2011. These children do not have clothing and shoes.
We run tailoring class. We asked class students to stich pants, shirts,
shlawar, kameez as their practice. They did a good job. We accomplished
double purpose i.e. training sewing students and saved money on stitching
the clothing. We also bought these 150 boys and girls fitting shoes.
I myself had walked barefooted until I was 12 years of age because
I was an orphan and my mother couldn't afford shoes for me. I know
how hard it is to be without shoes walking on asphalt roads in summer
and cold streets in winter, little feet hitting glass, thorn, nails etc.
Also, please view pictures of celebration of 15th August Flag salutation
at our office Fatambu Center. We distributed sweets among children.
Please donate generously your Zakat, Fitra, Kaffara, Sadaqa, fi sabil-lillah,
and other charities. Please send me your checks. You can send your
charity to us from any country. They are tax deductible in USA and
Canada. There will be a big reward with Allah.
