ભારતીય સંસ્કૃતિમાં " શ્રીમંત " કે " ગોદભરાઈ " જેવા પ્રસંગો કે જેને ઈંડીયન બેબી શાવર (Indian baby shower) તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે તે સામાન્યતઃ પ્રસૂતિ પૂર્વે ગર્ભધારણ ના સાતમા માસે ઉજવાય છે. પશ્ચિમી સંસ્કૃતિમાં આ પ્રસંગો ( baby shower) કહેવાય છે.
આ પ્રસંગનુ ધર્મિક – સામાજીક મહત્વ તો આપણે સૌ જાણીએ છીએ પરંતુ ચાલો, થોડી વાત તેના વૈજ્ઞાનિક મહત્વ વિશે પણે કરીએ ! જો ધ્યાન પૂર્વક વિચારીએ તો દેખીતી રીતે તેનુ વૈજ્ઞાનિક બેક્ગ્રાઉન્ડ તરી આવે.
